Awards The Associates present two awards annually: the Paul Baker Award and the Associates Award for Excellence in Presentation. Click here for a listing of past award winners. 2007 Awards Recap by Noel Jett, Awards Chair The 2007 “Paul C. Baker Award” was presented at the UHMS Annual Scientific Conference in Maui. The Nominees were: Owen Doar and Steve Fabus. The Associates Executive Board was polled and the majority of votes went to Steve Fabus. I have communicated with Matt Schweyer to forward the check for the accompanying $1000.00 honorarium. Two “Associates Award for Excellence in Presentation” were presented. The first place recipient was Terry Beard, (ACHRN, RRT, CHT) Associate Director Hyperbaric Services Diversified Clinical Services, for his presentation on: “Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Related Adverse Events In Relation To Treatment Depth And Blood Glucose Level, An Ongoing Study From 48 Centers”. The second place recipient is Dick Sample, (RRT, RCP CHT) Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda, California for his presentation on: “Spirometric Changes With Long-Term Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: A Prospective Study”. The first and second place recipients will receive the $750.00 and $500.00 honoraria respectively, associated with these awards. I have spoken with Matt regarding the payment of these checks as well. The traditional Associates Leadership Award, (Gavel on Plaque Award) was presented to the outgoing Associates Chair, M. Kaye McClue. I would like to voice my appreciation to the Associates Executive Board for their assistance in the selection process and those Associates who felt strongly enough to nominate their colleagues for the Paul C. Baker Award. Thanks to the Associates at the conference who volunteered their time to assist as presentation judges and a special thank you to those Associates who were willing to put forth the hard work and effort to make their presentations at this year’s conference.
